Days 6-12 with Fritzi and Di

Sorry I have no new photos as yet..still trying to work out how to save on here!
Since we left Tennant Creek on Sat June 12, the weather has certainly improved and got a lot warmer. We called into the Daly Waters Pub on our way to Katherine..too dusty to stay but we had our lunch and took some great photos in the bar area. Plenty of bras and scanties hanging in the bar plus several other items of interest. We had a long 700+ k's drive to Katherine where Fuel was again expensive, $1.73, 1.53 and in Katherine 1.25. We had 2 nights in Katherine at the Shady Lane Caravan Park. V.Good although the facilities were only average!Early start on Sun 13th as we went to the Katherine Gorge where we had a long walk to the lookout and lunched down by the river. On Monday we only had a shorter day driving to Pine Creek and then onto Kakadu National Park. Neither of us had been to Kakadu before so we were really looking forward to our stay in Jabiru for 5 nights. We called into Cooinda on the way and had lunch in the car park before making a booking for the Yellow Waters Cruise on the Wed morning 6.45am cruise.Arr at the Lakeview Caravan Park in Jabiru at 1.45pm and this park is sensational..lush green and excellent ensuites for every site. Di caught up on the washing on Tues morning as the laundry was the best so far. After lunch we went into the local tourist office and booked a scenic flight for 1 hour on the Wed. (same day as the cruise). The tour operator (Anthony) recognised Eric from ABC Sport and invited Eric to coach the local cricket team that night. Eric enjoyed the occasion particularly coaching a couple of aboriginal boys!! We met a delightful couple from Melbourne (on site next to us)David and Bev and we invited to drive them to the cruise the next morning as they had also booked. We had to get up at 4.30am for a 5.30am leave as the cruise was departing at 6.45am and we had a 45k drive. What a cruise..the bird life was sensational and we saw some crocs and the tour price also included a full breakfast similar to the Lakes Resort Hotel!!! We arr back in Jabiru at lunch time (not hungry) and had a rest before the scenic flight at 5pm. The flight (us and 2 from Cobar in NSW) departed 25 mins late which was good as the sun sets around 6.25pm. What a trip..we flew over Nourlangie Rocks on our way to Twin Falls and Jim Jim Falls, saw other Billabongs, the border of Arnhemland plateau and the Ranger Uranium Mine before seeing a magnificent sunset just 5 mins before landing. What an end to a great day ...the best on the trip so far. Today 17th June we went for a drive to Nourlangie Rocks and met our Melbourne friends again and went on a 3.5k walk on a track to a viewing point overlooking Kakadu etc. The scenery was absolutely magnificent and we have some wonderful photos of our past few days in Jabiru. We actually meet up with Bev and David again in Broome as they are also booked in from July 19-26. We have a quiet day tomorrow before we leave for Darwin on Sat until 26th June.
The temp. in Jabiru has been 33-34 every day and 22 deg at night. Sorry about the cold weather in good old Adelaide. We even have the air con on cool. We have a crack in the windscreen and may need replacing in Darwin.
